Fijn Angle Grinder

As part of a collaborative project to develop a cohesive family of four power tools under the brand Fijn in both CAD and a physical model out of Clay, I designed a compact angle grinder tailored for domestic hobbyists and small-scale home projects. Fijn’s brand identity focused on simplicity, accessibility, and compactness, requiring each tool to move away from traditional industrial aesthetics and instead feel approachable within an everyday household environment.

My design responded to this by combining a lightweight structure, rounded organic form, and soft colour palette to create a power tool that feels less intimidating while remaining highly functional. User comfort and control were enhanced through front and rear textured grip handles, while safety was prioritised through a clear on/off switch, trigger-based kill switch, and an intuitive disc attachment system designed for ease of use by less experienced users.

This project explored how industrial design can redefine the visual and ergonomic language of technical products, balancing safety, usability, and strong brand consistency to create a more user-friendly and domestically integrated tool.
